Our 50 year old plant is 12x18". This ultimate dwarf shrub has tiny medium green leaves. Our plant grows in semi-shade.

 MAGNOLIA - - ADVANCE
Burgundy X Vulcan—Has glowing purple pink flowers in late March. This fine plant comes from Vance Hooper in New Zealand. A fairly new plant to us. Our plant hasn't bloomed, but the pictures are lovely.

 MAGNOLIA - - APPOLO
Has rich pink,-purple flowers on a 30'tree. The tepals are some what pointed. M. Apollo will bloom as a very young plant and in time will cover itself with great amounts of flowers.

 MAGNOLIA - - BLACK TULIP
('M Vulcan x M. 'Iolanthe') - One of the darkest of all magnolia hybrids. This Mark Jury hybrid from New Zealand will get 30-40' tall fairly quickly. The black-purple flowers are a tulip shape and appear in March. Limited # available.

 MAGNOLIA - - BLUSHING BELLE
(M. 'Caerhays Belle' x M. 'Yellow Bird'). Looks similar to M 'Caerhays Belle,' but is much hardier and narrow growing. This superb plant from Dennis Ledvina, Green Bay, WI, is a step forward for more northerly growers.

 MAGNOLIA - - BRIXTON BELLE
Sweet Simplicity x Black Tulip x Sir Harold Hillier. Said to bloom one year after grafting. This New Zealand hybrid has a large, rick pink M. campbelli flowers. But, blooms in 1-2 years not like M. campbelli (25-30 years). Very limited.

M. 'Vulcan' x M. 'Liliflora Nigra'—Bred by Mark Jury in New Zealand. this deep purple pink Magnolia is an upright grower that will give years of enjoyment.

We got our original scion wood from Dr. Corbin's garden in Portland. This large growing hybrid is very vigorous. The flowers are 10-12" across and the richest pink purple. The color is truly striking in March.

M. 'Woodsman' x 'Tina Durio'- One of August Kehr's best hybrids. It's wild to think that M. 'Woodsman' with its purple green and yellowish color could produce this lovely deep pink hybrid. This quick grower will grow well in many parts of the country.

One of what used to be Michelias. This is a small evergreen tree. The white flowers show up in April-May. Not hardy outside the Deep South, California or Oregon Coast.

Originally, M. denudata'Forrest Pink'. This hardy magnolia has flowers that look like M. denudata, but are a rich pink. Seems to withstand frost when in bloom.

Is an upright grower for the smaller garden. The flowers are soft pink with white inside the tepals.

This superb National Arboretum hybrid is a rough, tough plant. It will take heavy clay, grow in parking strips and dry areas once established. Our mature (25 year) plant is 25-30' tall. The purple flowers over the plant in late March. Very adaptable, from Southern California to Michigan.
